Elizabeth W. Russell, 77, of Cartersville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19.

Mrs. Russell was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Denver, Colo., the daughter of the late Evelyn Watts and Thomas H. Wigglesworth. She was a retired nurse, was former head administrator of Springdale Nursing Home, was a patient advocate for nursing homes, loved animals and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Surviving is her husband of 55 years, Tom Russell of Cartersville; children, Maggie and Randy Duncan of N. Augusta, N.C., Mitzie and Andy Sanders of Cartersville, Ginny and Mitch Dutto of Euharlee, Thomas J. Russell Jr. and Wendy of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Joe, Josh, Katie, Michael, Sam, Beth and Chris; great-grandchild, Keeley; her brother, Thomas H. Wigglesworth Jr. of Hilton Head, S.C.; two sisters, Jody Osteen of Hilton Head, S.C., Judy Wilson of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Church of Assissi with Deacon Miguel Echevarri officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Etowah Valley Humane Society.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
