The former general manager of the Lake Allatoona Preservation Authority has been charged with nine counts involving misuse of funds.

A Cobb County grand jury on Dec. 12 indicted Ron Papaleoni on two counts of violation of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, theft by conversion, six counts of theft by taking.

The Acworth resident had worked with the authority until he was fired by the board in late 2009.

Created by legislation in 1999, LAPA is made up of nine representatives from Bartow, Cherokee and Cobb counties.
