Ford Focus burns in White
A Tuesday night vehicle fire is under investigation after a Ford Focus burned to the point it was a total loss.
According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office incident report, at 9:10 p.m. a witness drove past the area on his way to McDonalds and saw a white Dodge truck with a green trailer sitting on the property. When he drove back through, he saw a car on fire in the woods where the truck had been parked.
Bartow County Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene. When firefighters arrived, they said a blue Chevrolet extended cab Z-71 with six occupants was in the area.
A black gas nozzle and Georgia license plate returning to the Focus were found at the scene.
The tag led back to the victim, who told Bartow County dispatch the vehicle was parked outside her home. When she went to check on it, the Focus was not outside. Dispatch contacted the deputy and gave her the victim’s address.
When the deputy arrived at the victim’s home, she saw a white Dodge truck parked in the driveway. According to the report, the truck had fresh mud on the back bumper, inside the fender well, on the outer tire walls, on the rear tires and on the tailpipe. The deputy also saw a garden hose next to the truck and noted the truck had water spots, as if it had been recently rinsed off.
The deputy spoke with the victim and another person in the residence. Both people said they had their keys and the vehicle was in the driveway between 9 and 9:30 p.m. The deputy did not ask either individuals about the truck parked in the driveway, according to the report.
