A Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to Blueberry Ridge, Acworth, on Friday at 9:30 p.m. in reference to a theft by taking. The complainant told police someone took the white Ford Ranger from her residence. The truck, which has a blue splash pinstripe on both sides of the vehicle and a dent on the driver-side rear quarter panel, was unlocked and parked in the driveway when it was last seen.

Tearful man arrested with drugs

While conducting patrol on Staton Place in Acworth on Friday, a BCSO deputy noticed a man walking down the street. As soon as the pedestrian, later identified as James Ray, saw the patrol car, he turned into the next driveway.

The officer immediately pulled over and asked the man his name. Ray began to cry; the officer repeated the question three times before Ray answered. “I have meth around my neck,” Ray said as he continued to cry. The officer retrieved a black lanyard with Hawaii printed on it from around the subject’s neck. It contained a white crystal-like substance.

The officer learned Ray had an outstanding warrant for probation violation and he was placed under arrest.
