Mr. Charles Robert “Pete” Shaw Sr., of Rome, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Shaw was born Sept. 30, 1935, in Floyd County, a son of the late Ambrose Shaw and Agnes Bridges Shaw. He was a member of Waters Road Church of God. Mr. Shaw was employed by Southern Auto for 10 years and Auto Parts of Cartersville for 12 years, and prior to his retirement he owned Shaw Automotive for 20 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1955 until 1959. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by brother, L.D. Shaw; sisters, Ruby Nation, Dessie Babb and Helen Arneson; one infant brother and two infant sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Waters Shaw; three sons, Charles Robert (Angie) Shaw Jr., Cartersville; Victor Wayland (Julie) Shaw, Rome; Brian Vincent (Bonnie) Shaw, Cartersville; sister, Dorothy Townsend, Rome; grandchildren, Charles Robert (Brittney) Shaw III, Jordan Shaw, Ryan Shaw, Aryn Shaw, Karli Shaw; great-grandchildren, Ryder and Rhys Shaw; special brother-in-law, Doyle Roberson; special cousin, Bobby Shaw; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Doyle Watters, Rev. Rob Miller and Rev. Bill Pardue officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. The family received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave., Rome, Ga. 30165.

Memorials may be made to the Heyman Hospice, 420 E. Second Ave., Rome, Ga. 30161.

Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Thursday: Terry Watters, Jerry Watters, Gene Watters, Marvin Waters, Larry Patterson Jr., Wayne Roberson, Ken Bagley and Robert Shaw.

Honorary pallbearers include Danny Ferguson, Marvin Ford, Noel Cannon, Ronnie Shaw, Kenneth Shaw, Rip Wilson and Eddie Stevens.
