A Cartersville home was damaged Friday afternoon when a fire ignited somewhere in the rear of the residence.

Kim Donegan said she came home from work to find smoke coming from her house on Quail Run. She said her son had been asleep in the basement, but when she first arrived home, she was unsure where her daughter was located.

Donegan said she “busted down” the back door in order to find her daughter. However, her daughter had been outside, playing in the yard. Her son was able to get out of the house and no one was injured.

Cartersville Fire Department stations 1 and 2 responded to the fire about 4 p.m.

Capt. Mitchell Bagley said the cause of the fire was undermined and the home suffered moderate damage.
