Leon Keith Oshande Taylor pled guilty before Superior Court Judge Scott Smith for the June 4, 2011, robbery by force and false imprisonment of 79-year-old Arthur Lee Smith.
Taylor was sentenced to 30 years, with 20 years to serve. The remainder will be served on probation.
Joni Mae Earwood, Taylor’s co-defendant, pleaded guilty to the same two crimes on May 14, 2013, receiving a sentence totaling 30 years, with 10 years to serve incarcerated and the remainder on probation.
The incident occurred when Smith was picked up by two females and then attacked in their vehicle by an unseen accomplice near Floyd County. After the assault and robbery of his wallet, Smith was pushed out of the vehicle where he was later found on Alford Road by neighbors.
The second female was determined not to be involved and charges were dropped.
