2 sentenced Tuesday

Two men in separate cases were sentenced Tuesday in Bartow County Superior Court.

Michael Stephen Tackett was found guilty by a trial jury on March 20 for the felony crimes of aggravated battery, obstruction of a law enforcement officer and obstruction of emergency medical personnel. The charges stemmed from a June 11, 2013, criminal investigation that began in the area of Glade Road near the Sugar Hill area and ended at the Cartersville Medical Center.

Tackett was sentenced to 30 years, to serve the first 10 incarcerated, with the remaining balance to serve on probation.

In a separate proceeding Tuesday, Larry Ross Foster, 72, entered guilty pleas before Judge Scott Smith to three counts of child molestation. Foster was charged with inappropriately touching an 11-year-old female victim that in Bartow County during the of summer of 2012.

He was sentenced to 30 years, to serve the first 5 years incarcerated, with the remaining balance to serve on probation. Foster also is required to comply with the sex offender registry law and undergo special sex offender conditions of probation.
