Davis and Owen throw four-hitter in Little League action

Chris Davis and Carter Owen combined to throw a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the Indians’ 9-5 victory over the Crackers this week in Cartersville Little League action.

Davis pitched two innings with three strikeouts. Owen pitched three innings with seven strikeouts.

Peyton Willoughby was the leading hitter for the Indians with three hits, a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Davis had one hit with a double, two walks, a run scored and an RBI. Owen added a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Dalton Henson, had a hit, run scored and RBI of his own while Bailey Jacobs came around to score on his base hit. Carson Gage added a hit as well.

Logan Quijano, Conner Clawson, Jackson Cline and Zack Dunn also reached base.

For the Crackers, Micah Earwood and Charlie Heidmann combined for a strong pitching performance with seven strikeouts. Earwood pitched four innings with six strikeouts and Heidmann pitched one inning with one strikeout.

TJ Jackson had one hit with a double, two RBIs, a walk, and Titus Jones had a hit and scored a run. Jackson Norris and Earwood also had a hit each.

Lane Hutson, Christian Gardner, Charlie Heidmann and Jaylen Akins also reached base.

The game was called after five innings due to the time limit.

Colts 14, Phillies 4

Kaison Williams and Jonah Gambill each hit home runs to lead the Colts to a 14-4 win over the Phillies.

Williams slammed a three-run home run and finished with two hits with a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored. Gambill slammed a solo home run and finished with one hit, two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk.

Meanwhile, Caz Smith had scored two runs on a walk and hit.

Williams, Gambill and Logan Cagle combined to pitch a two-hitter for the Colts. Williams pitched one inning and struck out the side, while Gambill threw two innings with four strikeouts.

Trevor Montgomery, Cagle, Alex Freeman, Ethan Wolfe, Mason Brown, Tate Smith, Patrick Shelley, Chase Barger and Jackson Davenport all reached base for the Colts.

For the Phillies, Matthew Surrett had a double and three RBIs, and Coy Cappelen had the other hit.

Camden Webb, Tyler Putz, Mike Abernathy, Jake Woodall and Lance Shields also reached base.

Karson Hornberger pitched 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts, and Camden Webb pitched 1 1/3 inning. The game was called after four innings due to the 10-run rule.

Padres 13, Tigers 5

With a slim 5-4 lead, the Padres scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and held on for a 13-5 win over the Tigers.

Trevor Pfiester had two hits with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Dadrian Dennis had a double, two runs scores and two RBIs. Malik Watts hit a triple, walked twice, scored a run and drove in two more. Christian Martin added a hit and an RBI.

Chanc Willis, Mack Morris, Danny Fisher, Xzavier Moore and Zach Fisher also reached base.

For the Tigers, Pfiester pitched 3 2/3 innings and six strikeouts and Chanc Willis pitched 2 1/3 innings.

Tyler Gamble led the Tigers at the plate with three hits, a run and an RBI. Khian Knox had a hit, a walk and an RBI. Koby Jordan had a hit, a run and an RBI. Brady Evans and Micah Tart had a hit and Evans scored a run.

Brady Craig and Jacob Desmond also reached base.

Braves 14, Dodgers 2

Logan Martin powered the Braves to a 14-2 win over the Dodgers.

Martin hammered a grand slam, inside-the-park home run, a two-run double and an RBI single. Martin finished with three hits with a home run, double, three runs and seven RBIs.

Martin had plenty of help from Preston Welchel, Austin Baker and Hunter Campbell, who each had two hits. Welchel had two hits with two doubles, two runs and an RBI. Baker had two hits with two doubles and three RBIs. Campbell had two hits, including a triple and scored two runs with an RBI.

Byers Murray, Hayden Cagle, Trey Holstein and Jesse Grogan each added a hit, making a total of 10 Braves hitters with one or more hits.

Murray had one hit, was hit by a pitch, scored two runs and drove in another. Cagle had a hit with an RBI and a run while Holstein had a hit with a double, two walks, and three runs scored. Grogan added a triple and was hit by a pitch.

Baker and Welchel combined to pitch a three-hitter for the Braves. Baker pitched three innings and Welchel struck out three in an inning of work.

For the Dodgers, Tanner Brumfield had two hits with a double and Kolbe Benham had a hit.

Clay Ross pitched 2 2/3 inning with three strikeouts and Triston Berryhill pitched 1/3 innings with one strikeout. The game was called after 3 1/2 innings due to the 10-run rule.
