The dance studio, located at 13 S. Public Square, is expanding into the building that once housed the Fancy This Boutique at 17 S. Public Square. Fusion’s competitive dancers will use the studio for their practice.
“It’s just a separate studio that mainly our competition dancers will be using,” said Director Kasey Ashworth. “... They have props for their competitions, as well as we form an elite group of dancers to take six to eight hours of dance a week. So to have a studio that was more exclusive to them meets their needs as well.
“... They begged me if I’ll let them go in there and go ahead and see it. So they’re counting down the days. I think they’re more excited than the teachers.”
In addition to the new studio, Fusion’s open house also will focus on upcoming programs for the summer and fall. Parents will have the opportunity to sign their children up for classes during the event.
“We have our summer session going on starting June 10, and we offer classes on Tuesday nights, as well as summer camps for all ages and genres of dance. Then we’re also opening our fall registration as well, and so they come and they go ahead and register their student or their family for dance in August. But we have a 15 percent discount the first month back in August,” Ashworth said.
The open house is slated to include dance demonstrations, crafts, refreshments and a fashion show, a first for the dance company, Ashworth added.
“This is our first because of our dancers — and they’re always there and they want to wear our gear — we thought it would be a good idea to provide them something that they can wear in class and perform in as well,” she said. “So we offer dance clothes embroidered with our name or screen printed with our name on it.”
The open house is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, contact Fusion Dance Company at 404-358-4403 or visit www.fusiondancecompany.net.
