Braves use balanced attack to top Tigers, 16-5

The Braves used a balanced offensive attack that featured 11 hits by eight players to defeat the Tigers, 16-5, in Cartersville Little League baseball play.

Four Braves hitters had two hits each, Trey Holstein, two hits with a base on balls, five runs; Logan Martin, two hits with a hit by pitch, two runs; Byers Murray, two hits with two bases on balls, two runs, an RBI; and Hayden Cagle, two hits with a double, a base on balls, a run, an RBI. Four other Braves had one hit each: Preston Welchel, one hit with a triple, two bases on balls, a hit by pitch, three runs, four RBIs; Hunter Campbell, one hit with a base on balls, a run, an RBI; JaQualyn Mayhall, one hit with a base on balls, a run, an RBI; and Eoin Neal, one hit, an RBI. Also contributing offensively were Riley Collier, three bases on balls, a run; and Jesse Grogan, a base on balls.

Murray and Holstein did most of the work on the mound. Murray pitched four innings and 79 pitches with seven strikeouts, and Holstein pitched one inning and 20 pitches with one strikeout.

For the Tigers, Josh Quinney blasted a three-run home run, finishing with three hits with a run and four RBIs; Koby Jordan had two hits with a run; Tyler Gamble, two hits with a run; Brady Evans, one hit with a run; and Brady Craig had one hit with a double, a run; CJ Loyal had a base on balls.

Craig pitched 1 1/3 innings and 34 pitches with one strikeout; Brady Evans, 2/3 innings and 30 pitches with two strikeouts; Jacob Evans, one inning and 25 pitches; Gamble, one inning and 17 pitches; Loyal, 1/3 innings and 14 pitches; and Quinney, 2/3 inning and 15 pitches.

The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.



Padres 16, Dodgers 2

Trevor Pfiester, Danny Fisher and Christian Martin combined to pitch a one-hitter for the Padres in their 16-2 win over the Dodgers.

Pfiester pitched 2 1/3 innings and 56 pitches; Fisher, 2/3 inning and seven pitches with one strikeout; and Martin, one inning and 21 pitches.

Chanc Willis led the Padres at the plate with three hits with a triple, a base on balls, four runs, three RBIs; Malik Watts, two hits with two doubles, a base on balls, four runs, four RBIs; Dadrian Dennis, two hits with a double, a triple, two bases on balls, four runs; Pfiester, two hits with a double, a triple, a run, three RBIs; and Martin, two hits with three runs, two RBIs; Mack Morris, one hit with two hit by pitches, a base on balls; Fisher, one hit with two RBIs; Zach Fisher, two bases on balls.

Jaylen Benham had one hit with two bases on balls for the Dodgers; Kolbe Benham, a base on balls; Clay Ross, a base on balls, a run; Braden Sutton, a base on balls, a run; Evan Crane, a base on balls, an RBI; Jaden Avalos, a base on balls; Tanner Brumfield, a base on balls.

Brumfield pitched 26 pitches; Cole Crump, two innings and 37 pitches with two strikeouts; Kolbe Benham, 2/3 inning and 27 pitches; Evan Crane, 2/3 inning and 28 pitches with one strikeout; and Colin Eaton, 2/3 inning and 16 pitches with two strikeouts.

Kaison Williams had three hits with two runs and an RBI to lead the Colts to their 12-3 win over the Indians.

Gambill pitched 4 2/3 innings and 86 pitches with seven strikeouts, and Cagle contributed 1 1/3 innings and 22 pitches with two strikeouts.

Bailey Jacobs and Peyton Willoughby were the leading hitters for the Indians. Jacobs had two hits with two runs; Willoughby had two hits with an RBI; Carter Owen had one hit with a double, an RBI; Dalton Henson, one hit with a base on balls, a run; and Logan Quijano, one hit with a base on balls; Chris Davis, a base on balls; Giles Turner, hit by pitch.

Chris Davis pitched one inning and 30 pitches with three strikeouts; Willoughby, four innings and 82 pitches with seven strikeouts; and Jacobs, one inning and 37 pitches with one strikeout.

Crackers 10, Phillies 9

Trailing 9-7 to the Phillies, the Crackers rallied for two runs in the fifth inning and one run in the sixth to edge the Phillies, 10-9.

Micah Earwood led the Crackers at the plate with three hits and an RBI; Titus Jones had two hits with two triples, three runs, two RBIs; Charlie Heidmann, two hits with two runs; Josh Nolan, two hits, two runs; TJ Jackson, one hit with a run, and Marco Wilkey, one hit with a run; Christian Gardner, two bases on balls; Jackson Norris, a base on balls, a run; Lane Hudson, a base on balls, an RBI; Jalen Adkins, a base on balls; Jalen Thomas, an RBI.

Jackson pitched two innings and 57 pitches with three strikeouts; Christian Gardner, one inning and 32 pitches with one strikeout; and Lane Hutson, three innings and 34 pitches with five strikeouts.

Michael Abernathy hammered an inside-the-park three-run home run for the Phillies, finishing with the homer, a base on balls, a run, three RBIs; Tyler Putz, two hits with a base on balls, two runs; Thomas Peters, one hit with a double, a run, two RBIs; and Karson Hornberger, one hit; Amarion Stenzel, a base on balls, two runs, an RBI; Camden Webb, a base on balls, a run; Lance Shields, a base on balls, a run; Coy Cappelen, a hit by pitch, an RBI; Dante Harris, a base on balls, an RBI; Jake Woodall, a base on balls; and Matthew Surrett, a run.
