The complainant said he and a woman returned to their Bishop Mill Drive residence Thursday night and noticed the gate to the left of the residence had been opened. The pair went into the backyard, according to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office incident report, and heard a noise coming from the other side of the house.
The complainant went inside to get a flashlight and told the woman to stay in the house. As she waited, the woman saw two people running down the road. According to the report, one was a black woman wearing a white T-shirt and the other was a black man. Both suspects got into a silver car believed to be a Mercury Grand Marquis. The complainant found footprints in the mud and soil next to the residence and soil on the fence as well. The complainant also saw muddy footprints inside the residence that were not there earlier.
The back door was unlocked at the time, according to the report. No items were missing from the home.
The report also stated that the same vehicle seen after the attempted burglary returned to the neighborhood and the driver appeared to be the same woman who reportedly fled the scene. The complainant said he saw the vehicle in a driveway across the street.
