The six are Adairsville’s Hunter Smith and Tristan Smith; Cartersville High’s Brent Arnold, Clifton Dempsey and Garrett Rutledge; and Cass High’s Alex Yauslin.
Hunter Smith, a pitcher and right fielder, posted a .435 batting average and a .500 on-base percentage at the plate this season while pitching to a 1.91 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings. Hunter batted second in the order ahead of shortstop Tristin Smith, who hit .415 to go along with a .533 on-base percentage.
For Cass, Yauslin, batted .295 on the season with a .403 OBP, one home run and 14 runs scored while playing first base.
For Cartersville, Dempsey played shortstop for the Class AAA runners-up and hit .357 with 10 RBIs in Cartersville’s 12 playoff games. Dempsey’s doubleplay partner, Arnold, hit .341 in the playoffs with a .568 slugging percentage and 12 RBIs.
Meanwhile, Rutledge threw five complete games for the Canes in the postseason, recorded three wins, a save, and a .156 ERA in 34 2/3 innings.
