After a woman was arrested during a traffic stop late Tuesday night, a meth pipe was allegedly found in a body cavity.

A Cartersville police officer pulled over a blue Chevrolet pickup near the intersection of Goodyear and Mayflower streets for a seat belt violation. According to the incident report, both Lacy Beaty and Carl Garrett returned with no warrants or suspended licenses. However, the officer noted Beaty appeared “very nervous” and he asked to speak with her outside the vehicle.

Beaty said she had nothing illegal in her vehicle and she allowed the officer to search her truck.

While searching the vehicle, the officer found what he believed was methamphetamine and a syringe inside of a black glasses container between the passenger and driver seats. Both Beaty and Garrett were arrested and taken to the Bartow County Jail.

During a strip search of Beaty at the jail, a deputy found a suspected meth pipe in a body cavity. The suspect meth and related objects were taken into evidence.

Beaty was charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, seat belt violation and crossing guard lines with contraband. Garrett was arrested and charged with possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.

Man jumps from balcony to flee police

After police attempted to arrest him on an anonymous tip, one man jumped from his second story apartment in an attempt to flee Tuesday morning.

An anonymous tip told Cartersville police a wanted man was at a Ridge Row Drive apartment. Once the warrant was confirmed, two officers went to the address, with one officer going into the parking lot to get a view of the patio.

As one officer knocked on the door, the suspect, Brandon McCoy, allegedly jumped from the second story balcony and ran away.

An officer pursued McCoy until he fell to the ground and was put into handcuffs.

McCoy was arrested and charged with probation violation, obstruction of officers, driving while license suspended and violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act sale of marijuana. He was transported to the jail without incident.
