An Adairsville Police Department investigation that began more than a month ago ended Friday with the arrest of a local man on child pornography charges.

On June 7, Adairsville detectives following up on an unattended death executed a search warrant at 20 Dewey Drive, Interim Police Chief Arnold Gillman said in a press release. During that search, investigators located and seized several laptop computers in connection with the death investigation.

The computers were sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit for forensic analysis. GBI investigators located 78 images on the computers of children between the ages of 6 and 15 in lewd and sexually exploitative situations, the release stated.

Adairsville detectives then secured arrest warrants for the resident and owner of the computers, Kenneth Bryan Evans, 55, of Adairsville.

Evans was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with 78 counts of sexual exploitation of children and is currently being housed at the Bartow County Jail.
