On Friday, a Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to 1108 N. Tennessee St., Cartersville, in reference to theft by taking. Upon arrival the deputy met with the complainant who said a male at the pawn shop took a gun. The victim said the male comes in the shop regularly attempting to pawn worthless items and he never does business with him. He said on Thursday the male came in wanting to sell or pawn some old guitars but the complainant told him that he could not do business with him. Allegedly, during the time the male was inside the store, there were some handguns laying out on the counter due to the store doing some reorganizing. After the male left the store, the victim noticed that a gun was no longer on the counter.

The complainant said he watched the video surveillance and saw the male pick up the gun and place it in one of his guitar cases and then leave the store in a silver Mazda Protege. The victim provided the officer with a flash drive containing the video footage of the theft which was placed in evidence.

Upon arrival to a commercial business in Acworth, a BCSO deputy observed a rollup door of the rear of the building opened, several doors on a Ford truck to be open and several items out of place.

A short time later the officer was met by the victim who stated he was called by the alarm company for a rollup door activation. He checked the building and stated a cut lock was the only thing touched.

The deputy then spoke to another victim who owned the truck that was burglarized. The victim stated a 90-pound jackhammer was taken from a building where his tools are stored. Also, a Husqvarna 790K saw with a 14-inch diamond blade was taken from the truck. The officer observed a large pair of bolt cutters leaned up beside the rear door where the lock was cut. Also, a pair of hand trucks where the jackhammer was stored sitting next to the same door on the northwest corner of the building.

A victim showed the officer the surveillance video and at approximately 2 a.m. a dark four-door passenger car with bright blue headlights and an inoperable driver’s side fog light entered into the parking lot of the building next door. They immediately backed out and entered the front parking lot of Red Top Mower. Two minutes later a subject was seen walking across the parking lot toward the truck and buildings that were burglarized. The subject was seen on camera dragging the hand trucks across the parking lot, entering into the truck, and entering the buildings.
