Woman kidnapped from driveway, later raped

After being kidnapped from her friend’s driveway, a woman was raped Tuesday night.

According to a press release from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, the victim got off work at approximately 2 a.m. and went to a friend’s house on Ga. Highway 20 in Cartersville. The victim told deputies she was still inside her vehicle when her ex-boyfriend, identified as Dwayne Tyrone Arnold, allegedly blocked her vehicle in the driveway with his vehicle.

Arnold allegedly approached the victim’s vehicle on the driver’s side and punched the victim in the jaw. Arnold forced the victim into the passenger seat, according to the release, and drove her to the Motel 6 located at 5659 Highway 20. During the drive, Arnold allegedly punched the victim several more times. When they arrived at the motel, Arnold allegedly raped and assaulted the victim.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. the victim was at Cartersville Medical Center and deputies were called in reference to the assault. She told deputies her ex-boyfriend had assaulted and abducted her.

Arnold was arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop by the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force. He was charged with aggravated battery, terroristic threats and acts, aggravated sodomy, kidnapping and rape, all under the Family Violence Act. He is being held at the Bartow County Jail pending a bond hearing.

<*C>Bartow County tractor damaged

A Bartow County tractor was damaged at a construction site on Glade Road.

According to the BCSO incident report, the complainant said a Bartow County Road Department crew arrived at the work site Wednesday morning and saw a Cat 325D track hoe had been moved to the back of the site. The complainant said the crew was moving the track hoe back to the front when they saw that a Superpac 8420 tractor had been damaged.

The damage to the tractor was estimated at $50,000.
