Woodland girls place 14th at Berry Invitational

Thanks to the efforts of senior Mallory Warren and the varsity cross country team runners, the Woodland girls placed 14th out of 35 teams at the Berry Clara Bowl Invitational on Saturday.

The meet has maintained their fouth-place position in the region. Freshman standout Lindsay Scifers finished second for the team, which also is comprised of juniors Cayla Candelas, Emily Greulich and Sydney Owen, and sophomores Ally Landrum and Elizabeth Roberson.

The Woodland boys placed 22nd overall in the field of 37 teams with senior James Clark leading the varsity squad. This placed the boys cross country team eighth in the region. Helping to secure this position were varsity squad members Ross Barnes and Tyler Heath, both seniors; junior Alex Chavez; sophomores Dustin Keil and Jacob Glitz; and freshman Nick Warren.

This week the Woodland cross country team will host their annual invitational at Run at the Rock. Scheduled to compete are 22 teams from high schools across the state, including Cass, Adairsville, Excel and several highly state-ranked programs among many others. Race time starts at 8:30 a.m. for varsity teams and 9:45 a.m. for junior varsity runners.
