According to the Cartersville Police Department incident report, the man ordered four cookies and two bottles of water from Larry's Giant Subs at 220 Cherokee Place, and allegedly grabbed $195 from the clerk before fleeing the business on food with the food. Witnesses reported he left in a brown Dodge Intrepid.
An employee of a nearby restaurant, Cici's Pizza at 240 Cherokee Place, told police the same man had attempted a similar transaction. They later saw him run by the restaurant and discovered the alleged robbery at the sub shop.
Adairsville police arrest three in undercover drug operation
As a result of an undercover narcotics investigation, Adairsville police Wednesday arrested three people, charging them with drug distribution crimes, according to an agency press release.
Officers served a search warrant at 105 Cass St., Lot D, Adairsville, and say they recovered cash, 86 bags of alleged marijuana and 23 bags of suspected cocaine.
APD Chief Charles Stafford said in the release "that the current state of the [national] and local economy has not affected the [alleged] drug traffickers or the criminal organization they represent."
Kendrick Latrell Black, 32, of 105 S. Cass St., Adairsville; Natasha Joyce Freeman, 19, of 105 S. Cass St., Adairsville; and Judy Elaine Roberts, 43, of 105 Cass St., Adairsville, were each arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Stafford said in the statement that additional charges could follow.
The three are being held at the Bartow County jail pending bond.
Accidents and injuries
Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to five accidents with two injuries in the 24 hours preceding 5 p.m. Thursday.
Cartersville police reported four Wednesday crashes, three of which occurred on private property.
A man was arrested after he allegedly drove a 1996 Lincoln Towncar into a pole at Advance Auto, 774 West Ave., around 12:30 p.m. According to the incident report, Edward Paul Trowbridge, 50, of 109 Forrest Ave., Apt. 2, Cartersville, left the scene on foot.
Police later apprehended Trowbridge after his family member located him at a local store. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
Fires
A Fairmount home was destroyed in a Wednesday evening fire, Bartow County firefighters reported.
When crews arrived around 11 p.m. to the 295 Arnold Spur home, the house was fully involved. No one was home during the blaze. The cause is under investigation.
Cartersville firefighters reported no structure fires in the 24 hours preceding 5 p.m. Thursday.
