Betty loved attending church and was recently attending Fellowship Baptist Church in White. She was a graduate of Cass High School where she was a star basketball player. She had worked at Cartersville Undergarment until they closed, and then she worked at Kroger Grocery Co. Betty enjoyed trips to the mountains, especially to Cherokee, N.C. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Black; her children and their spouses, Mary and Brian Jarrett, Payson and Christy Hammonds, Robin Hammonds and Howard "Fireball" Poole, and James Thacker; her grandchildren, Crystal and Todd Gosselin, Cody Lee, Magan Wade, Lance Bearden, Cassidy Bearden, and Emily Hammonds; her great-grandchildren, Kase Evan Gosselin and Chacy Gosselin; her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Johnny Horton; her brother and sister-in-law, Max and Jennell Evans; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. C.E. Wilkey, Rev. Greg Gardner, and Rev. Michael Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in the Raccoon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Ash, Wayne Lindsey, Larry Lindsey, Brian Jarrett, Todd Gosselin, and Johnny Lee. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, GA 30120.
