Howard was arrested Oct. 1, 2008, and indicted Aug. 12, 2009. He is being represented by public defender Mark Clark, with Rosemary Greene to serve as prosecutor.
Greene said Friday that another case that may come up in Judge Smith's courtroom is the trial of Timothy Wayne Hernandez Jr., 32; Zsannett Hovarth-Hernandez, 25; and Evan McKinley Rodgers, 22, all three indicted Feb. 8 on trafficking in cocaine and possession of marijuana charges from a Sept. 30, 2009, arrest. Rodgers also faces a driving while licenses suspended charge.
Stewart Bratcher is serving as prosecutor. Hernandez is represented by James C. Wyatt of Rome, Hovarth-Hernandez by public defender Clark, and Rodgers by the firm of White, Choate, Watkins and Mroczko of Cartersville.
Judge Shepherd Howell is expected to hear the case against Eric Lamont Dixon, 23, indicted Aug. 12, 2009, on six counts of armed robbery, six counts of false imprisonment and one count of attempted robbery.
According to a March 12, 2009, article in The Daily Tribune News, two Cartersville men dubbed by investigators as "the North Face Robbers" were charged with several robberies in different jurisdictions. Dixon, then of 25 Gilreath Road, and Cedric Boone, then of 26 Haley Place, were accused of four 2009 robberies -- one on Feb. 12, two on Feb. 17, and one on Feb. 18. Dixon was charged with two more robberies, one on Dec. 21, 2008, and one on Jan. 27, 2009.
"The North Face Robbers" tag came because the men seen in videos committing the robberies wore North Face jackets, which have a small emblem on the back distinctive to the brand. Sheriff Clark Millsap said in the 2009 article that Dixon and Boone had air pistols and ski masks with them when they were arrested by Cobb County police.
Richard Hull will represent the state and James C. Wyatt of Rome is defending Dixon.
Another case that may be tried this week is the state vs. Arevell Lamar Thomas, 18, charged with attempted rape and criminal trespass.
Hull will serve as prosecutor and Tim Kimble from the Bartow County public defender's office is representing Thomas.
