Hometown USA Celebration & Concert -- The Adairsville Downtown Development Authority will be kicking off Independence Day weekend with a hometown celebration on the historic Public Square Friday, July 2.

Beginning at 6 p.m. will be an opening reception for the Hometown USA Art Exhibit at Arts on the Square, 122 Public Square. The exhibit, which runs July 2-16, will feature works by local and emerging artists. Admission is free.

Also at 6 p.m. a memorial service will be held at New Life Ministries, North Main Street, to remember Seth Sharp, a hometown hero on the first anniversary of his death in Afghanistan. During the memorial service, city and country dignitaries will honor the fallen Marine by co-naming Main Street/Old Hwy. 41 through Adairsville the Seth Sharp Highway.

At 7 p.m. a benefit concert will be held in the downtown gazebo, featuring Three Minutes to Fame. The band, comprised of Chris Fowler, Josh Cline, and Matt Fowler, specializes in music that spans 60 years of rock & roll. The free concert will benefit the Bartow County Advocates for Children - Flowering Branch Shelter.

Concertgoers are invited to bring items to donate to the shelter. Items needed include paper products, household cleaning items, snacks, and gift cards. Monetary donations also will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off at Arts on the Square. The DDA will be handing out free flags and glow necklaces to attendees while supplies last.

Kingdom Church, 106 Public Square, will have concessions available for purchase. Some bleacher seating is available but concert goers are welcome to bring their own chairs.
