Some 330 miles away, in Panama City, Fla., the Strikers -- a Cartersville-based travel baseball organization -- will compete in the Simply the Best World Series at Frank Brown Park.
The Strikers "Black" team, a group of 9-year-olds, plays at 8 a.m. and noon today. The Strikers "Blue," another team of 9-year-olds, plays at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. today.
The outcome for those games will determine seeding for the tournament, which will be held until Saturday. After two preliminary games, the tournament will be double elimination to the championship.
