'TAILGATING WITH THE ETOWAH SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION' -- This fundraising event will be held Thursday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. at Taylor's Lake and will feature barbecue and drinks. Special guests will be Wes Durham, sportscaster for Georgia Tech and the Atlanta Falcons; Georgia Bulldogs sportscaster Loran Smith and "Mr. College Football" Tony Barnhart. The event also will feature a live and silent auction of signed footballs, baseballs and jerseys from sports notables such as Nick Saban, Mark Richt, Paul Johnson and Hank Aaron. RELAY FOR LIFE -- Bartow County's Relay for Life event will be Friday, Sept. 10, and Saturday, Sept. 11, at Dellinger Park in Cartersville. Along with entertainment throughout the night, Friday's festivities will include be a survivor's reception from 5 to 7 p.m.; opening ceremony and survivor's lap and caregivers' lap at 7 p.m.; and a luminary service at 9:30 p.m. The event will wrap up Saturday at 9 a.m. with the closing ceremonies.
