The city of Cartersville plans to continue its testing of fire hydrants -- to identify problems that could affect the fire department in the event of a fire and collect accurate and current hydrant flow data which affects communities' insurance ratings -- on the following schedule:

* June 28 -- 41, 60 and 72 Massel Drive (apartments 155, 129 and 223); past Massel Drive on the right; Joe Frank Harris Parkway and Clubview; 1328 Joe Frank Harris Parkway; and the hydrant facing Microtel.

* June 29 -- Joe Frank Harris Parkway behind Microtel, near Cambridge Court; 1350, 1813 and 1883 Joe Frank Harris Parkway and across from 1824 Joe Frank Harris Parkway; Joe Frank Harris Parkway past Jackson Drive; Cassville Road and Mac Johnson Road; and Cassville Road across from RC Hudson.

* June 30 -- 1171 Joe Frank Harris Parkway; Joe Frank Harris Parkway and Baker Road; Joe Frank Harris Parkway at 300 feet north of Baker Road, 200 feet south of Baker Road, 700 feet south of Baker Road, 100 feet north of Cutoff Road and 300 feet north of Little Valley; Joe Frank Harris Parkway across from Little Valley; Joe Frank Harris Parkway and Iron Belt Road; beside Bojangles; and in front of Trinity Baptist Church.

City officials say that occasionally testing stirs sediment in pipes, causing minor discoloration. In that event, the water is safe to drink, but run water until it is clear prior to washing any laundry.
