Mrs. Smith was born in Bartow County on May 14, 1932, daughter of the late Golley Herrin and the late Beatrice Wilbanks Herrin. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Velma Bagley and her husband, Robert; and by a brother-in-law, Elbert Cagle. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Reynolds Chapel Baptist Church and worked for a number of years in the textile industry.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Lee "Pete" Smith Sr.; a daughter, Ms. Brenda Altizer of Kingston; three sons, Larry Smith and his wife Martha of Cartersville, Arthur Lee Smith Jr. and his wife Pam of Cartersville, and Darrell Smith and his wife Mary of Cartersville; eight grandchildren, Stoney Smith, Brandon Smith, Angela Smith, Donald Renee Edwards, Misty Roman and her husband Mike, Crystal Edwards and her husband Tony, Matthew Smith, and Megan Nally and her husband Ben; eight great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Josh Edwards, Kirea and Bryson Amos, Matthew Roman, Landon, Lacey and Kelsey Smith; a sister, Mrs. Sheila Cagle; a brother, Billy Herrin and his wife Geraline; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Matt Smith and the Rev. Harvey Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other hours they will be at the residence.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and include: Stoney Smith, Brandon Smith, Donald Renee Edwards, Matthew Smith, James Smith, and Keith Smith.
