They moved to Cartersville in 1952, where Lamar went to work for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, from which he retired after over 40 years of service.

Lamar was loved by many. He was a good man, devoted to his family -- steadfast and strong. His relationship with his Lord and Savior was evident to everyone that met him in the way he lived his life. The world was a better place with him in it and he will be missed. We are sad, but know that the angels are rejoicing and our Savior flung open the gates of heaven and greeted him saying, "Welcome home good and faithful servant! Welcome home."
