The World Series has drawn the teams from all over the Southeast with the winner claiming the title of World Series Champ for Dizzy Dean 13U.
Festivities began Thursday evening with a parade of teams in Jefferson. Also included were a stock car demonstration, go-karts and a fireworks presentation for the teams and community.
The tournament is being played at Lamar Murphy Park in Jefferson.
The Canes will be battling in pool play games today and Saturday, and then be placed in a bracket play situation for Sunday and Monday.
The championship game will be held on Tuesday, July 20. Admission to the World Series is $6 per day, $4 for children ages 6-12.
