Mr. McBryde was born on Dec. 25, 1921, in Polk County, son of the late Mary Parham McBryde and the late James Barney McBryde. He was a faithful member of the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart where he served as a deacon and in many other capacities over the years. He was employed for 39 years with the Goodyear Mill and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. McBryde and was a member of the Rockmart Masonic Lodge # 97 F & AM for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Frances Ponder McBryde on June 13, 2008; five sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hooper, Mrs. Ruby Waddel, Mrs. Lillian Chupp, and Mrs. Elmer McCollum; three brothers, Mr. Roy McBryde, Mr. James McBryde, and Mr. P.A. McBryde.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Richard Johnson of Rockmart; a son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Vickie McBryde of Cartersville; a brother, Doyal McBryde of Cedartown; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. McBryde will be held Monday, July19, at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart with Rev. David Warriner and Rev. Robert Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery with Brown- Wright American Legion Post # 12 Honor Guard in charge of the Military Graveside Rites.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 18, between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. at Freeman Harris Funeral Home.
