Bartow Blue teams begin Dizzy Dean bracket play

A couple of Bartow Blue teams experienced different results during the first game of bracket play in their respective Dizzy Dean World Series tournaments.

The 6-and-under Bartow Blue All-Stars, who went 3-0 in pool play, began with a 25-8 win over the Canton Stingers before losing, 17-9, to Norfork, Ala.

Jake Brasfield went 3-for-3 for Bartow, and Drew Rothschild and Jackson Heilman both went 2-for-3.

Brenton Baggett, assistant director with the Bartow County Parks and Recreation Department, said the 6U Blue were scheduled to play Chattanooga Valley late Sunday night in East Ridge, Tenn., where the tournament is being held.

The 7U Blue all-stars, also 3-0 in pool play, have a game with Pinellas Park, Fla., scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today in Ringgold. Bartow lost, 16-1, Sunday to the Acworth Orange.

Jordan Ford went 1-for-2 with a double, Davis Williams finished 2-for-2 and Devonte Ross was 1-for-1 with a run scored.
