The story of Sharon Bickford getting a kidney was great. It is overwhelming that some one gets a new leaf on life. But it also brought forth the attention of how many people need a kidney transplant. Even though none of her family members were a match, consider those people who do not have family members to be tested.
I have been on the kidney transplant list since October 2008. In a nutshell I was told I needed to find my own donor. With no family to best tested that is practically impossible. I have found that when I mention it to people that I need a kidney, their first reaction is to turn around and run. And yes I have a son but he also has polycystic kidney disease like I do and will need a transplant in the future.
So anyone out there who has any compassion for those not blessed with good health, please be tested. The toll free donor line at Emory Hospital is 1-866-727-3250.
Sincerely,
