Based on sales ranking and customer experience surveys, AT&T chooses one store each month to receive the Georgia Cup.
"They do a stacked ranking with a lot of different things based on different sales metrics and also with the customer experience," said Joe Sullivan, Cartersville AT&T store manager. "They do a ranking of the stores based on those categories. There are 61 company-owned stores in the state of Georgia and we were ranked number one for the month of May. So it's a pretty big honor for a statewide award."
Noting that a large percentage of the ranking is devised through customer satisfaction, Sullivan explained the method by which recipients are chosen.
"Sales encompasses several different categories. There are a lot of different things that are factored into it: new customers, existing customers and accessory sales. ... Now as far as the customer experience part, that's weighted 40 percent of the stacked ranking. And when I say customer experience it's talking about what the customer experiences here in the store as far as their satisfaction of what we do for them."
Their first recognition of this accomplishment included a celebratory reception for store employees Friday where state and regional leaders presented the award to local representatives.
Sullivan has been with AT&T for 12 years, 10 of which have been spent at the Cartersville location. He attributes the store's success to the people working on the floor and behind the scenes everyday.
"I have a great staff, support staff and sales staff. I've got two assistant managers that do a very good job also and then it's the customers. The customers that we have, we appreciate them because what they do and what we do for them -- that supports our store, of course, and keeps us in business and then it also gives us the opportunity to win these types of things like awards or whatever the recognition for what we do for them. Like I said, that's the biggest part of it is making sure we take good care of the customers and keep them coming back," he said.
Speaking on behalf of the corporation, Sandy Verma, sales and service leader for AT&T Georgia, commented via e-mail on the significance of this award.
"The Georgia Cup recognizes our AT&T stores that deliver extraordinary customer experiences from a sales and service standpoint," Verma said. "AT&T strives to be America's premier retailer in wired and wireless services and is proud to have our Cartersville store and its team members represent the company in the community for over 15 years helping us achieve this goal."
