The owner of a local restaurant reported Tuesday his employee came to work before 5 a.m. to find the business ransacked and cash taken. A second Cartersville business also reported a weekend burglary.

Sometime between 3 p.m. Monday and 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, a steel door was pried open at Cody J's, 675 S. Erwin St., according to the Cartersville Police Department incident report. Police say it appeared a crow bar was used to pry the large door, which was heavily damaged.

A second door looked as if someone had attempted to pry it, and the drive-through, front register and office had been ransacked. Cash and change totaling $600 was reported stolen in the incident.

Authorities have a suspect in the alleged burglary of Mainstream Collision at 176 S. Morningside Drive. According to the incident report, between 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Monday, someone entered the business and took automobile paint, supplies and tools.

Accidents and injuries

Georgia State Patrol troopers worked four accidents with three injuries in the 24 hours preceding 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Cartersville police reported one crash Monday, which occurred on private property with no injuries reported.
