Mr. James E. Slocum, 65, of 312 N. Dixie Ave., Cartersville, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010.

Funeral Service will be Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, 2 p.m. at Alexander Chapel AME Church. Interment will follow at Oakhill Cemetery, Cartersville, Ga.

Mr. Slocum was born in Bartow County on April 26, 1945, to the late William and Lizzie Weaver Slocum.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Grassdale Baptist Church.

Mr. Slocum retired from Chemical Products were he worked as a Machine Operator.

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Peggy Slocum; three children, James E. Slocum Jr. (Ida), Gena M. Slocum (Derrick), and Ricky D. Slocum (Carey); four sisters, Betty Wilkins, Christine Brown (Willie), Shirley McMichael and Polly Pritchett (Leon); one brother, Bennie Slocum (Joyce); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
