Just after midnight, the man told Bartow County Sheriff's deputies that a friend called about 7 p.m. asking him to go to a bar, according to the incident report. When the group arrived in the area of Blueberry Ridge, the man attempted to the enter the gold Subaru SUV. As he was entering the vehicle, one of the men told the victim to "give me all your" belongings, at which time the man turned to see the suspect holding a chrome, semi-automatic handgun.
The victim said he handed over everything expect his ID card and walked away. He said the SUV and a gray Impala drove away.
When asked why he had waited several hours to call police, the man said he was trying to determine whether to let police handle it or handle it himself since he saw the acquaintance often. He said he would provide the man's phone number as soon as possible.
More than $200 in counterfeit bills discovered at car wash
A manager of a local car wash told Cartersville police that employees found 11 counterfeit $20 bills about 4 p.m. Friday, according to the incident report.
The man said a witness was cleaning the inside of a silver Chrysler Town & Country and when the vehicle left the money was lying where the van was parked. Surveillance video was not able to provide a tag number or show whether the money came from the vehicle.
Women steal wigs from Maple Ridge Drive store
BCSO deputies were called to a Cartersville store about 2 p.m. Saturday after the store owner said two women shoplifted wigs.
According to the report, the two women came in and attempted to purchase other items. The owner was able to provide a portion of a discarded check from one of the women and a credit card receipt from the other.
Surveillance video provided showed the pair place two wigs into one woman's purse.
Accidents and fires
The Georgia State Patrol reported working three accidents with three injuries in the 24 hours through 8 p.m. Sunday, including an accident Sunday evening where lifeflight was called in. GSP personnel said about 8 p.m. troopers were still on the scene at Black Acre Trail near where Bartow, Cobb and Paulding counties meet.
Cartersville police reported working four accidents Saturday with no injuries.
Bartow and Cartersville firefighters reported no fires in the 24 hours through 8 p.m. Sunday.
