Mrs. Black was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Bartow County, a daughter of the late Herschel Simpson and Eunice Brown Simpson.
She was a member of the Rowland Springs Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lee Black; her mother and father, Herschel Simpson and Eunice Simpson; her stepmother, Annie Bell L. Simpson; brother and sister-in-law, William Bayliss Simpson and Emma Moss Simpson; brother, Samuel Boyd Simpson; and sister and brother-in-law, Edna Idel Simpson Chitwood and Everett Lewis Chitwood.
Survivors include her brother, Joseph Albert Simpson of Cartersville and her sister-in-law, Bernice Laramore Simpson of Cartersville; and a number of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Ringwalt officiating. Interment will follow in the Rowland Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
