According to the incident report, the tipster reported a vehicle on property at 340 Spring Place Road in White, and called 911.
When deputies arrived around 7 p.m., they stopped the truck, which was attempting to leave. There allegedly was a large amount of wire in the back.
The two occupants first said they were seeking a "good hunting place," then allegedly admitted they were there to pick up stolen wire of which another man had advised them.
Johnny Mark Hunt, 52, of 628 Cassville Road, Cartersville, and Donald Kelvin Cochran, 41, of 50 Cochran Way, Rydal, were each arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
Both men said they did not know from where the wire was taken or who stole it.
Two local businesses report burglaries over weekend
Two Cartersville businesses Monday reported burglaries, and a third reported a theft; each occurred over the weekend.
According to the Cartersville Police Department incident reports, someone broke into Georgia Tubular at 109 Dent Drive, searching an office and disassembling a lock into the plant area, between 4 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday.
Hydraulic fluid was also found on the floor and in a trash can.
In a separate incident, AmeriMart at 1153-A Burnt Hickory Road was burglarized around 3 a.m. Monday for two cartons of Marlboro cigarettes, valued at $84. Security video footage showed a man wearing a cloth over his face and gloves take the merchandise and run north on Burnt Hickory Road.
Comcast at 56 N. Morningside Drive reported a cable amplifier worth $1,500 had been removed from Carter Grove Boulevard at Belmont Drive around midnight Sunday. A resident called in a cable outage.
Accidents and injuries
Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to one accident with injuries in the 24 hours preceding 5 p.m. Monday.
Cartersville police reported no Sunday crashes.
Firefighters report vehicle fire
Cartersville firefighters Sunday at 10:38 p.m. responded to a passenger vehicle fire on Interstate 75 in the northbound on-ramp of exit 288. The car was a total loss.
CFD also responded Saturday night to a mechanical fire at the Daily Tribune News, 251 S. Tennessee Street.
The blaze was extinguished by the time firefighters arrived on scene.
No injuries were reported in both incidents.
