Mrs. Hames was born Jan. 14, 1942, in DeKalb County, a daughter of the late Thomas Lee Wagner and Thera Mae Underwood Wagner.
She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Cartersville and a retired teacher. She loved all children and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jerry H. Hames; her children and their spouses, Wanda and Randy Olson of Cartersville, Thomas H. and Rena Hames of Rockmart and Keith and Melissa Hames of Cartersville; and her grandchildren, Stephanie, Jadon, and Aaralyn Olson, Stephanie, Brandon and Jessica Holliday and Collin Ellison, Chase Hames and Mackenzie Hames.
Funeral services will be held noon Tuesday, Aug. 10, from the chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Meyers officiating. Interment services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Brown, Brian Cain, Dennis and Joseph Hughett, David Duren and Kevin Cook.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 922 E. Morris St., Dalton, GA 30721.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
