Sue was a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church in Cartersville, Delta Kappa Gamma and a founding member of Reach to Recovery.
Born in Waynesville, Ohio, Sue graduated in 1956 from Oberlin College and Conservatory in harp performance. She married Don Wert on Oct. 24, 1953. Sue was a public school music teacher in Ohio and Missouri. She taught eight years at Floyd College and taught private harp lessons.
Sue was an accomplished harpist playing in many churches and for numerous weddings.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Don; sons David (Carol) of Farmington, N.Y., John of Metairie, La., and James of Hiram and a daughter Mary Beth (Dave) of Columbus, Ind.; brothers Roy (Arizona) Furnas of Vallejo, Calif., and Stephen (Kim) Furnas of Fort Worth, Texas; and a sister, Anne Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, at Rowland Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Interment will be at a later date in Casstown, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rowland Springs Baptist Church, 79 Rowland Springs Road, Cartersville, GA 30121 or to the donor's choice.
