Adairsville Boy Scout hut burglarized, wiring taken

The troop leader of Adairsville's Boy Scouts of America Troop 12 reported Monday to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office a scout hut had been burglarized and copper wiring taken.

According to the incident report, the incident occurred between July 26 at 8 p.m. and Monday at the same time. The leader reported more than $2,000 in property stolen and damaged.

The complainant noticed Aug. 2 the lock latches damaged on a building and pump house and a box missing, but did not report it. Monday he determined copper wire had been cut from a lean-to and a breaker box door was lying on the ground.

Local motel reports theft of cash

Although there was no damage to the office door or safe, proprietors of a local motel reported Monday that cash from the previous night's deposit had been taken.

According to the BCSO report, the general manager said $679 was stolen by an unknown person after a worker advised him only checks were deposited in the safe.

No one entered the manager's office or forced open the safe.

Firefighters report 'minor' incident at chemical plant

A worker was injured in an explosion Tuesday at NorthStar Chemicals, 19 Smiley Ingram Road in Cartersville, Bartow County firefighters reported. Battallion Chief Bryan Cox called the incident, which occurred shortly after 7 a.m., "minor" and said the man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A pressurized container is believed to have failed, and the blast affected only the work area. Cox said there was no fire and no structural damage to the building.

The injured worker was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Accidents and injuries

Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to three accidents with one injury in the 24 hours preceding 5 p.m. Tuesday.
