Fern was born on Jan. 23, 1924, in Cherokee County, a daughter of the late Mack and Florence Crowe. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William Wehunt; second husband, Clifford McMichael; brothers, Clifford Crowe, Roy Crowe, Almon Crowe; sister, Edna Harkins. She was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church.
Fern is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Lisa Wehunt, Tony and Janice Wehunt of Cartersville; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Freeman Young of St. Simon's; grandchildren, Josh Quick, Chris Willis, April Wehunt, Hannah Wehunt; great-grandchild, Cooper Willis; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Fern McMichael will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at Fairmount United Methodist Church with Rev. Bert Love officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church Cemetery. R.L. Mathis, Lee Mathis, Alan Price, Jonathan Holsomback, Calvin Watts, Harry Lay will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Fairmount Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home from 6 to 9 on Wednesday.
