Motorists should expect to see the right lane closed at the bridge over Lake Allatoona, between mile markers 281.4 and 282. This single lane closure is necessary for GDOT workers to repair the handrail damage caused by Tuesday’s crash that forced a four-hour closure of all three northbound lanes of the interstate after a tractor-trailer had collided with a car, which caused a minor injury, a diesel spill over the roadway and some damages to the bridge.
Officials expect to reopen the right lane about 3 p.m.
Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this or any other road project on interstates and state routes. Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, such as traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures and delays due to inclement weather. Callers also can transfer to operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More information is available at www.511ga.org.
