As the long hot summer months draw to a close, the Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce annual business showcase begins to take shape. Vendor registration is now under way with early bird discounts ending next week.

Friday, Sept. 3, will be the last day for chamber members to receive a discount on booth registration for the Oct. 28 showcase titled "Roll Out The Red Carpet for Business in Bartow."

The showcase brings local businesses together each year for a public event highlighting various goods and services offered throughout the community.

"It's a time for us to show off all the great members of the Chamber and to give them an opportunity to showcase their business and their services. And we're just very glad to be able to give this opportunity for businesses all in one place on one day to market and promote their businesses," said Jennifer Matthews, 2010 Business Showcase co-chair.

Excitement surrounds the 2010 showcase as it enters a new venue after a long stint at the Church at Liberty Square. This year's showcase will be held at the Clarence Brown Conference Center in the main ballroom. Although not its first event, this will be the first exposition held in the building scheduled to open in early October. The venue change will allow for the largest showcase to date with a total of 65 booths available for members and non-members alike as well as businesses within Bartow or outside county lines.

Members can receive a registration discount by reserving their space by the end of next week. Early bird registration is $250; or $300 for members after Sept. 3. Registration for prospective members is $400 at any time. Booth locations can be chosen at registration.

"This is one of the things the Chamber does in a variety of ways, is to provide marketing platforms for members so they can connect with other businesses and the public at large," President and CEO Kay Read said. "This is a very easy way for businesses, the vendors in the booth, to provide information, consultation, answer questions to people strolling through. It is a very low-key way for the public to get information about products, services, businesses and it's a very easy avenue for businesses to promote themselves to several hundred people. So $300 or $250 or even $400 for a booth for four hours to come in contact with several hundred people, direct contact with them, is a wonderful marketing opportunity that we provide for our businesses in Bartow County."

Personal interaction was a feature of the expo highlighted by Matthews as well. "It's an opportunity to advertise in person. Businesses can run ads throughout the year but of course those are usually print ads, or Internet or maybe radio and this is a time when they can meet people one on one and the community can see more about the business," Matthews said.

The Oct. 28 showcase will be open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m. with a networking session preceding that from 3 to 5 p.m. A business seminar with details to be announced later will take place before the exhibit hall opens. Business cards are accepted as admission as are two non-perishable food items or $2.

The Chamber hopes to promote local businesses by providing exposure to visitors of the showcase in an effort to encourage local spending.

"Of course we're always trying to encourage and remind those that attend the showcase to shop in Bartow County. Whether it's shopping retail or shopping for contract jobs or services we always want people to think of Bartow businesses first," Matthews said.

To reserve a booth, call 770-382-1466 or visit the Chamber at 122 W. Main St. in Cartersville.
