William was born March 21, 1918, in Cassville to the late Robert and Lois Freeman Jewell. As a youth he united with the New Hope Baptist Church. He served his country as a soldier during World War II from 1942 to 1946. After the war he worked on railroad crews in Sylacauga, Alabama. There he met the love of his life, Dasarene Wilson. The two were united in marriage and later moved to Cassville, where they reared their family and reunited with the New Hope Church.
William worked for J.R. Cullens and Johnny Cummings for many years. He also worked for and retired from the City of Cartersville Water Department.
William leaves to mourn his passing two sons, William H. Jewell (Kathy) and Thomas Jewell; six daughters, Lois McAfee (Joe Howard, Sr), Lillie Jewell, Lorean Brent, Lee Jewell (Howard), Levon Johnson (Harvey) and Lesa Allen; twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
