Toyo Tires announced Thursday plans to hire 200 additional team members for the Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing facility in White.

The international tire manufacturer cites increased production and ongoing facility investments as reasons for the new additions.

"It is with great pleasure that I announce we are hiring more team members for our state-of-the-art factory," Jim Hawk, president and CEO, Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing said Thursday in a press release. "Our future is bright thanks to the long-term commitment of Toyo Tires, a staff of dedicated team members and tremendous support from the great state of Georgia."

Announced in 2004 and completed in 2005, the local plant manufactures Toyo and Nitto brand tires for passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks. A recent expansion nearly doubled the plant's size to 1.8 million square feet of floor space.

With increased production, the facility estimates total volume to be 5.2 million units per year by 2011.

"We anticipated some great things ahead for the company, but it is always rewarding to see our local companies doing well," stated Melinda Lemmon, executive director of the Cartersville-Bartow County Department of Economic Development in an e-mail to The Daily Tribune News. "One amazing fact to me is that Toyo's employment levels have been steady -- much less growing -- in this unprecedented economic climate we find ourselves in. Our community is so grateful to Toyo for its involvement, corporate citizenship, environmental practices, and more."

"The company is seeking highly skilled multi-craft maintenance technicians with [Programmable Logic Controller] experience and hard-working production team members ready for on-the-job training in a modern manufacturing environment," according to the Toyo Tires press release.

Qualified applicants are asked to visit the Cartersville Department of Labor located at 19 Felton Place in Cartersville for more information.

Toyo Tires is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas Inc. An ISO 9001:2000 certified company, Toyo Tires employs an American workforce and is a corporate partner supporting the local Georgia economy.
