Arrest made after foot chase
A witness notified Cartersville police to an intruder at Advantage Title Pawn, 743 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Thursday night. The suspect, later identified as Rodney Steven Wilbanks, was seen going through vehicles in the businesses gated lot.
When approached by police, Wilbanks attempted to hide in a vehicle, then as the officer climbed the fence to enter the premises, the suspect fled on foot. The chase involved traversing three barbed wire fences before the officer in pursuit noticed lacerations to his hands and radioed a description of the suspect as Wilbanks scaled another fence.
Officers then aware of Wilbanks' direction of travel located the suspect and arrested him. Wilbanks, 54, of 23 Redcomb Drive, Unit A, Cartersville, was charged with criminal trespass, obstruction of an officer, parole violation and two counts of entering auto.
