Bears, Packers win in Bartow league football

In Bartow County Recreation Department football action Thursday, the Bears defeated the Jets 22-6 in their 8-and-under football game, while the Packers slid by the Steelers 16-12 in a 10-U football contest.

Jelani Holmes led the Bears with 82 rushing yards and a touchdown on offense and five tackles on defense. Jonah Cooper (34-yard run) and Eli Jernigan (10-yard run) scored the Bears' other TDs.

Jayden Smith, who had a 7-yard TD run for the Jets' only score, led his team with 76 rushing yards. Gaven Crunkleton had two tackles to lead the Jets on defense.

Two players topped the 100-yard mark in 10-year-old football action as the Packers' Braylin Barton rushed for 127 yards, while Justice Carter led all rushers with 148 yards. Carter and Barton both scored two TDs.

Garrett Worsham led the Packers with three tackles, and Malik Grimes was the Steelers' tackling leader with two.
