The victim of a Tuesday shooting and the suspected shooter, who was later arrested, were arguing about money owed for a vehicle, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

A third man at the scene told police Berl Douglas Henson, 63, and the shooting victim began a physical altercation around noon, and the man who was shot struck Henson in the head with a can. Henson allegedly then shot the man in the upper leg.

The two then separated from the 39 Crowe Springs Spur home in Cartersville, and the witness said the shooting victim had went to retrieve a weapon.

Deputies arrived and found Henson sitting in his vehicle, and his weapon was found in the middle console. Henson, of 79 Mountain Ridge Drive S.E., Cartersville, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespass.

Men asking for donations may be a scam

A man identifying himself as an independent worker for Dynasty Sales could be a scammer, a local woman reported to BCSO authorities Tuesday.

According to the incident report, around 4:30 p.m. the man came to the woman's Bishop Road home and asked for a donation. The woman wrote a $49 check, then searched the Internet for information on the company.

A website listed several complaints about the company, calling it a scam. The woman was advised to stop payment on the check and monitor her checking account in case fraud was committed with her account number.
