Man robbed at motel

A Kentucky man told Cartersville police he was robbed just after midnight Saturday at Bartow Motel, 803 Joe Frank Harris Parkway.

According to the incident report, the victim said about 12:30 a.m. Sunday two white males robbed him of his money, striking him in the head with a glass bottle.

The man said one of the suspects pulled a knife and forcibly removed the cash from his pocket.

No further information was available.

Man arrested after allegedly stealing, crashing car

Cartersville police were called to Amberwood Apartments, 1116 N. Tennessee St., early Friday after a neighbor complained about a domestic dispute.

About 8:15 a.m., a responding officer met with April Dawn Adams, 21, of 1116 N. Tennessee St., Apt. 12, Cartersville, who said someone had stolen her car, according to the report. During the ensuing conversation, Adams allegedly became loud and "boisterous," cursing at the officers. She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

Officers then spoke to the man with whom Adams had been talking. He said the two weren't fighting, they were discussing the theft of their vehicle.

He told police that Thursday evening he, Adams and Jefferson Dean Wilson Jr., 22, of 50 Dobson Drive, Euharlee, had been hanging out at the Amberwood Apartments residence. When he went to bed, Adams and Wilson remained in the living room.

The man further stated that at 7 a.m. Friday he awoke to find his cell phone and car keys missing. According to the report, the man was able to get a neighbor to call 911 for him.

While speaking to police, the man spotted his tan Honda Civic traveling west through the complex parking lot, saying, "That is my car. He [Wilson] is the one who stole it."

Wilson allegedly attempted to flee officers, striking three vehicles in the parking lot.

Wilson was arrested and charged with obstruction of an officer, drugs not kept in original container, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, three counts of hit and run, theft by taking (motor vehicle), reckless driving, driving with a withdrawn license, having contraband across guardlines and not reporting the striking of a fixture.

Accidents and fires

The Georgia State Patrol said about 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon on Highway 140 Tom Holland of Jasper lost control of his Harley when he swerved to avoid a deer. He was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. A reader told The Daily Tribune News Holland remained in critical condition Sunday.

GSP reported no serious crashes or injuries in the 24 hours through 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Cartersville police reported five accidents with five injuries. Four people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Bartow County Fire Department reported working several grass fires Sunday, including one 17 Byars Road, Cartersville, about 5:12 a.m. Two stations were dispatched to the woods fire, which was burning about 30 feet from an abandoned mobile home. An outbuilding was found in the center of the blaze. Georgia Forestry was called in to help. The cause remains under investigation.

A rubbish fire left unattended about 4:15 p.m. burned almost a quarter of an acre on Floral Drive.

Firefighters were called about 7 p.m. Sunday to reports of smoke near Lake Allatoona. BCFD personnel said just before 8 p.m., emergency responders were taking boats out to the area where smoke was sighted. No further information was available.

Cartersville Fire Department reported no fires in the 24 hours prior to 8 p.m. Sunday.
