An Adairsville High student faces rape charges over an alleged incident against another student on school grounds.

School system authorities arrested Wednesday Ferlando Lamont Dorsey, 18, of 49 Monroe Crossing, Cartersville, and charged him with rape, aggravated sexual battery and sexual battery. The incident that led to the charges purportedly occurred about two weeks ago during the school day in a restroom, according to School Resource Officer Chief Dan Knowles.

"The evidence in this case has led us to making an arrest for the charge of rape," Knowles said, adding that evidence included testimony from statements given, a sexual assault examination and evidence from a forensic interview.

Knowles said the victim, also a student, is under the age of 17.
